Handcrafted From Real Wood
Each window cornice begins with solid pine and is individually built, distressed, stained, and finished by CR Woodworks.
We allow the natural characteristics of the wood to remain part of the piece rather than trying to make solid lumber look perfectly uniform or factory-made.
The result is a simple architectural window treatment with the warmth and texture that only real wood provides.
Important: Order by Inside Length
The length you select is the INSIDE LENGTH of the valance.
This is the clear opening between the two side pieces.
It is NOT the total outside measurement.
Example
48" selected length
→ 48" inside opening
→ Approximately 49½" overall outside length
Because each side piece is made from approximately ¾"-thick solid pine, the finished outside length will be approximately 1½" longer than the selected inside length.
Standard Dimensions
• Face height: 5"
• Overall depth: 3½"
• Inside depth: approximately 2¾"
• Wood thickness: ¾"
How to Measure
Measure the entire area your valance needs to cover, including:
• Window trim
• Blinds or shades
• Curtain rods
• Mounting brackets
• Other window hardware
Make sure your blinds, curtain rod, or other hardware extend less than the available 2¾" inside depth.
Also allow enough space for the two side pieces to fit comfortably around your complete window setup.
Need a Custom Size?
Need a different inside length, height, or deeper return?
Send CR Woodworks your measurements before ordering. We’ll be happy to help confirm the appropriate size and provide a custom quote when needed.
Long Valances: 78"–120"
Inside lengths from 78" through 120" are handcrafted in TWO SECTIONS for easier construction, handling, and shipping.
The two sections connect at the back with metal joining brackets.
A center seam will be visible.
Together, both sections create one complete wood window valance — not two separate valances.
Please review the two-section reference image in the listing before purchasing so you know exactly what to expect.
Easy Keyhole Installation
A keyhole hanger is installed on the back edge of each end piece, allowing the valance to mount flush against the wall while keeping the mounting hardware concealed behind the wood.
Included Hardware
• Keyhole mounting hardware
• Screws
• Wall anchors for standard sheetrock/drywall
Different wall materials may require different fasteners.
Real Wood = Natural Character
Each valance is handcrafted from ¾"-thick solid pine.
Because this is real wood, every piece naturally has its own:
• Knots
• Grain patterns
• Natural markings
• Hand-distressed details
• Stain variation
Stain may appear lighter or darker across the same board depending on how the wood naturally absorbs the finish.
Your valance will have the same overall style and character shown in our product photos, but no two pieces will look exactly alike.
Lighting, photography, surrounding décor, and individual screen settings may also affect how stain colors appear.
Stain & Finish Options
Choose your preferred stain from the available stain color options.
Since every piece of pine has its own grain pattern and natural tone, the same stain can look slightly different from one board to another.
These variations are expected with real stained wood and are part of what gives each handcrafted valance its individual character.
What Can a Wood Window Valance Cover?

The valance may also be used on its own as a decorative wood window topper.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this window valance made from real wood?
Yes. Each valance is handcrafted from solid pine wood. Natural grain, knots, markings, texture, and color variation will remain visible in the finished piece.
What does the selected length mean?
The selected size is the inside opening between the two side pieces. It is not the total outside length.
For example, a 48" selected size gives you approximately a 48" inside opening and a 49½" overall outside length.
How much longer is the outside measurement?
The overall outside length is approximately 1½" longer than the selected inside length because the two side pieces are each approximately ¾" thick.
Can the valance cover blinds?
It can conceal compatible blind or shade hardware that fits within the available interior space. The standard inside depth is approximately 2¾", so measure your existing hardware before ordering.
Can it cover a curtain rod?
Yes, provided your curtain rod and mounting hardware fit within the available inside depth.
Can you make a custom length?
Yes. If you don’t see the inside length you need, contact CR Woodworks with your measurements before ordering.
Can you make it taller or deeper?
Custom heights and deeper returns may be available. Send us your measurements and desired dimensions for a custom quote.
What happens with valances 78" and longer?
Inside lengths from 78" through 120" are built in two sections.
The sections connect at the back using metal joining brackets, and a center seam will be visible.
How is the valance installed?
Keyhole hangers are installed on the back edge of each end piece so the valance can mount flush to the wall.
Screws and wall anchors for standard sheetrock/drywall are included.
Will my stain look exactly like the product photo?
Not exactly. Every piece of solid pine has different grain patterns and natural coloring, and individual boards absorb stain differently.
Lighting, photography, and screen settings can also affect how stain colors appear.
Is the distressed texture intentional?
Yes. Each valance is hand-distressed to create its rustic character.
Because this process is done individually, the exact markings and distressed details will vary from piece to piece.
How long does it take to make?
Current production time is approximately 1–2 weeks before shipping.
Is shipping included?
Yes. Free shipping is included for orders delivered within the Lower 48 states.

The Nature of Handcrafted Furniture:
Each piece we create is handcrafted from wood—built by our hands, not machines—and that’s exactly what makes it special. No two pieces will ever be identical, and we believe that’s part of the beauty.
We want to be fully transparent so you know what to expect from our handmade furniture:
• You may see natural knots, grain patterns, color variation, and texture differences—these are completely normal and part of real wood
• Our pieces may include visible brush strokes, joint lines, nail/screw marks, and even minor splits or micro-imperfections from the wood itself
• Nails or screws may be visible in some areas of your piece—this is not a flaw, it’s part of the handcrafted nature of our work
• Wood can shift slightly over time with changes in humidity and temperature, which may cause small gaps or movement—this is expected with solid wood
• Stain colors may vary depending on lighting and the unique tones of each board
• All sales are final—every order is made just for you
• Please inspect your order upon delivery and contact us right away if there’s anything you’re concerned about—we’re here for you.
If you’re looking for furniture with a machine-perfect finish, our handcrafted pieces may not be the right fit. But if you appreciate the character, soul, and uniqueness of handmade work, we’d be honored to build something just for your home.
